How do you feel when you workout there? Is it a relaxing environment that allows you to reach goals?

Is the gym regularly cleaned, is their a weird smell upon entering? Are the bathrooms clean? Are you afraid to take a shower there?

Can you find equipment in a reasonable amount of time?

Is the equipment falling apart or are all machines in working order? Are most of the machines newer, or models from a museum on loan?

Is their other on-site services such as tanning, spa services, daycare? Many people enjoy having one place to workout and also get a massage or get their nails done.

Is the staff helpful and friendly? Are they knowledgeable? Bad staff can totally ruin your experience.

Shady business practices

While the gym is bright, clean and moderately convenient, the business practices are not. I became a member in 2009 canceling two months later (well within my right). The owner refunded an unauthorized charge but then proceeded to charge both my main card AND my back up card each month since. I've managed to get some money back from my bank but in trying to get the remainder and prevent further charges, the owner never returns phone calls and when he does, he leaves messages that "it will be taken care of" but it never happens.
It's really too bad that the business is being run so badly. The concept is good.
