Its not that bad.....
First I have been a member of this gym for.... Well, since it opened, I have found that bitches and moans are true, I have also found that when you complain to the right person (Tara). Most of the time it will get done. I cannot deny that if I was the manager that there would be alot less people standing around and spot free. I enjoy this place, it is the People that have kept me coming and staying, everyone is freindly including management, it is defiantly not a gold gym. Now for the price I pay, I really don't care if the tv works or not or the steam room. Honey badger don't care! They have the equipment I want, the weights I need and ok I have too look to make sure they are the right ones...... I enjoy the openess of the place and the drinking fountains do suck. Bring your own water..... :)
Not a bad place to work-out.
Admittedly, I just started my membership with this gym. First, I live around the corner so I don’t use the locker rooms but what I like most about this gym is that the staff are warm and polite. They also offer personal training sessions at a reasonable also. Needless to say the membership price if paid in one year is great! So far, in the several times I’ve been there I’ve not had any problems using the machines I needed. The only thing I don’t like is the limited hours of operation on weekends and the fact that they don’t yet have a website that outlines other classes being offered. I really enjoy the shake-bar where you can buy an after-work out protein shake or other supplements. I’ll post another review in about six months but so far, so good with this gym and I'd recommend it.
I must be at the wrong gym
First off I have to say I must be at a different gym than the rest of the reviews I am seeing.
I am not here to say that Performax is the best gym ever but by no means is this place like everyone else is saying. I have gone to this gym at all hours and have never seen it over crowded. Even when the parking lot is full I have never run into an issue of getting on the equipment that I need. Maybe this comes from my years of dealing with Base facilities that are wall to wall people.
Next issue I have to address is the cleanliness. The floors are clean and I have been around a few times when they are picking up and cleaning equipment. Now all the equipment isn't perfect but by now means is the equipment unusable. Only a couple dumbbells have lost name plates but really if you can't compare size you my friend have issues, and again I've used the rack and I think maybe 2 times have a caught a dumbbell without a name plate.
The TV's are the only issue I could really say anything about. It seems like they are hardly ever on but again I am not at the gym to watch TV so I don't care.
The programs are great and lead by some really great people. As for the staff they have always been helpful and willing to help me in any issue that I have.
By no means am I some gym rat that lives at the gyms around town but in my time there I have been treated well and met some great people.
Please take advantage of the trial issue and see this gym for yourself.
#1 Worst gym in utah
Let me start off by saying the staff alone, is the biggest reason to avoid this gym. The management sucks, and doesn't feel the need to do anything productive in this gym. I was a member for a year there and just recently left. The equipment is NEVER being sanitized or cleaned off. The weights are always a left laying around and not put in proper order, and EVERYTHING is always broken!!! None of the dumbbells have the numbers that state the weight on the sides, so good luck guessing! Just about every single piece of cardio equipment is broken and not to mention I've only seen maybe 2 t.v.s work in the whole building. The sauna has been broken for years and all the sales staff like to say it's going to be fixed. IT'S NEVER GETTING FIXED. So don't buy into their arrogant B.S!! I would highly advise NO ONE join this gym. The staff is filled with A-holes, the equipment is ALL broken and never going to get fixed, and this gym just flat out sucks!
Avoid
First off the management of that place is the #1 reason to NOT join, they do not care about customer service nor the paying customer they only care about the money, and have no idea how to run a proper business it seems. They refuse to fix even simple light bulbs. They refuse to fix the steam room and other equipment. When I first took the tour of the place I was told just temporary down on the steam room... flash forward to now, yeah still down.
I was a member at this gym for just over a year, and was excited to get out of that place. The best thing that place has going for itself is the overall architecture is very pleasing, besides that I'd vote it worst gym in Utah.
On the outside it appears to be fairly large, but whoever designed the layout was foolish. The equipment is tightly clustered together, and at the peak hours it can be quite a headache dealing with that, especially if you have ANY amount of claustrophobia.
The machines are not very well maintained. Nor have I ever seen the staff clean/disinfect the equipment, nor does the staff ever help keep the free weights or anything organized.
Maybe you'll have a better experience, I cannot speak for anyone other than myself, but I say avoid this gym at all cost, but sometimes you just have to learn on your own.
